A fantastic portrait, Ernst. I really like how you have him looking out of the frame with most of the empty space behind him. It is unconventional but totally works with this subject. Very well done.

That lighting is just perfect for his skin textures. Interesting use of negative space here. Not sure I like it or not. It feels like he should be looking across the negative space towards the light. Making portraits of single people work in landscape is always a challenge.

I like it. I find it more "arty" then classic portraity, though. Is portraity a word? Having him so close to the edge of the frame he is facing makes the viewer feel a bit uncomfortable. The closeness of the upper crop and the nice separation from the background makes him appear almost real, tangible in a "this is not a photo, this is a real person standing by window sense." It is almost as if he could reach through the frame and touch you. He is looking off at something and not directly at the viewer there is a weird feeling we should be concerned, maybe? It's a little bit unnerving. Definitely makes the viewer pause and consider. Also, his suit fits very well.

I like the fact that you always try to break the rules or to create EUS rules.
