    Default John Webb's Mill

Well ... it's been a long time since I posted here, hello everyone I've been getting divorced and haven't picked up my camera for about 6 months. I'm starting to get the bug again though!

Thaxted windmill by thoughton, on Flickr

This is John Webb's Mill in Thaxted, a village about 5 miles away from Saffron Walden where I live. I've photographed it before, but it recently had its sails replaced so it looks more like a windmill now and not just a short fat lighthouse. The sky was very clear and boring so I've gone for some stronger PP. C&C welcome (especially about the contrail).

Really cool shot! I like the contrail, it breaks up the sky a bit and adds some interest.

    Thanks for looking guys!

Jason I appreciate the response about the contrail. A few people had suggested I remove it, and a few have said much the same as you. I think I'm going to keep it.

Love the subject and the processing. Contrail works for me. I like the bright highlights from the blades and windows and the glow of the horizon

Sorry to hear about your divorce. My wife threatens me with it every time the subject of a 500mm lens or a full frame camera body comes up. Sometimes one wonders .... but I digressed Really nice image, super processing and yes, keep that contrail adds...

    Thanks for the responses!

Matt thanks for the kind thought but no worries, we both agree it is better this way. There are many positives too - for one thing I don't have to watch any more reality TV shows with her woohoo Funky cool avatar btw!
