Looking at the Familiar in an unfamiliar way

I love horses, and I am familiar with almost every part of the equine experience including equipment. So when asked to photograph a barn I found myself needing to look at familiar things in a different way. I look for something special about that object, something unique in its texture or position. Something the camera will isolate and create a quietness that allows the unique quality to come forward. This is a racing saddle that was slung over a stall door, is not the most elegant of saddles but it's purposeful construction with strong materials like the webbing, large stitches and durable synthetic stirrup leathers painted a picture of function, strength and simplicity. Still doesn't seem enough hold on the exercise boys who tackle the spirited two year olds, think raw talent helps there.
