    Default The Flying Dead

This is a composite photo. Well I had this mask hanging around but it wasn't until I put a skull in that I came up with the idea for this photo.

The Flying Dead by Dan Newcomb Photography, on Flickr

Zombies have been hunted down like dogs these days. Well... here is one that decided to fight back. Zombies can't fly planes you say? You are what you eat. More brains anyone?

I started by sketching the scene. Then I photographed the mask and skull, after that the background scene of Vancouver. I put them on different layers then got to work on the canopy, I distorted the area behind and darkened it. I then made the exhaust trail and got to work on the explosion. The last thing were the eyes. I photographed them and modified them to look a little off. All photos were tone mapped HDR images. All together I must have had 7 or 8 layers, It was a fun little project.

Thanks for the kind words! I usually photograph animals but I am looking forward to more of these in the future. Lots of fun and the sky is the limit. So many possibilities and such little time. Thanks for looking!
