I'm a little surprised no one has anything to say about this one.

oops, sometimes we miss one and need a little reminder
Keeping in mind that I claim no expertise in portrait photography here's my 2 cents (and probably all it's worth, lol):
I like the comp- the pose is nice and I even like that she's looking away and seems to be in thought. Congrats on not having that vacuous look that some model shots have (that drives me nutty). It does seem a bit soft for me but that might be compression in the upload. I would like a bit more contrast for the eyes to pop but that may be that they're soft too.

    hope this is helpful

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.

What I was going for was sort of the Hollywood of the forties look. I like the contrast between the smoothness of her gown and the roughness of the bricks. I liked the dappling. And what I liked the most was that it conveyed a sense of real sadness.

This was shot awhile back, when I was still on 35mm. The subject is my wife.

I usually say "don't edit my images," but if someone had a thought on the contrast, I would definitely be interested.

This is probably my favorite photo I've ever taken.

It is a very nice shot and don't be dissuaded by us louts missing the post. It happens some times and we just need to be reminded.

The focus seems to be off on me but everything you described is exactly the things I like about it. My only wish was that it was sharper.
