    Default monochrome photography advice

    Hello,

I'm interested in exploring monochrome photography and was wondering if any of you could point me in the way of some good articles to read on this before I get started.

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that it's good to always shoot in colour as the monochrome can be applied in post-processing. It also said to convert to monochrome by mixing different colour channels as opposed to converting to greyscale. I understand how this is manifested in tonal differences that can make images more dramatic.

Any tips and advice would be very welcome.

    Regards,
    NorthStone

I'm going to toot my own horn. I wrote two articles on B&W photography a while back. Black and White Photography 101 « Wicked Dark Photography and Black and White Photography 201 « Wicked Dark Photography. I'm sure others will chime in with more.

I shoot in B&W with the red filter on, the contrast boosted (active D-lighting off). I can always go back to colour in post-prod
