Kids again BW

Again, comment away. Going to shoot again and anything useful would be great. No lights, no flash (someone is still waiting on Duracell). Only got the natural light from the window.

Oh..and quick questions. If we have a series of photos, one is BW, do we have to post it in here?

Haha..he just wouldn't stop playing with the ball.

Those are really beautiful. I want to know more of the techniques here. Is this a high key photo? How do brighten up the face, showing less contrast? I don't know, if my description is right here but what I see is that, the faces have more bright parts less dark parts.
Can you please explain the technique?

I think we should have one thread dedicated to pp techniques???

You never have to post your B&W in the B&W forum. The forum was set up to showcase B&W images, however, there's no hard and fast rule that forces you to post them here.

I put the kids about three feet from the big window (have another window across the room as well) up on the kitchen counter. I used a black vinyl wrapped board behind them (I have no backdrops yet). The window became the eye highlights (even though they are square). Where I live in the basement, even with the window light it is still fairly dark so I use a high F-stop (anywhere from F2-5.6). Stood back as far as I could, aka 2-3 feet.

Post processing. All images in RAW. White balance, sharpening, dodging of highlights, removal of one bad little scratch near my boys nose. Then I turn to BW. With it converted exposure, contrast and blacks are played with. I am a fan of contrast, sometimes too much. Umm.. trying to think what else. If something else pops up or if you have any more questions I'll add to it!
