    Hi Shaun,

    Flowers are not my forte, so hopefully someone with more experience will jump in, but to my eye the focus point seems to far back on the flower. Looking at the shadows it looks like it was taken in quite harsh sunlight, a 5 in 1 diffuser would have been useful here to soften the light. I like the B/W treatment and overall composition.

    Hi Shaun
    this is a really neat flower and the b&w is a good choice. I agree with Richard that you missed the focus point. with flowers, it's best if the center is dead sharp (I think of it like the eyes in portraits). Also you have some clipping in the whites which result in blown out bits. Flowers are tricky because the lens doesn't recognize where you want to focus and will often pick the closest point (the petals) and also, the wind ALWAYS blows as you click your shutter (I think it's a law)>
