    Default 2 B-25s

Pacific Princess and Pacific Prowler are both B-25 bombers, the type used by the Doolittle raid on Tokyo. In British service, these would have been Mitchell MKIIIs. Pacific Princess used to be a photographic chase plane for Air Classics Magazine. (Rides are usually available at shows, for a donation. )

Starting a large radial engine is always a smokey enterprise. Starting, they sound like a bunch of Harley Davidson motorcycles starting up at the same time.

Note the high polish on Pacific Prowler (vain, isn't she?)

The business end. It's a Browning M-2 .50 caliber machine gun with flexible feed. The aircraft in different versions had as many as 12 .50 caliber machine guns.

The Liberator was the B-24. It was a larger plane of a very similar plan form, however, it had 4 engines rather than 2. It was a long range bomber, rather than a tactical bomber (the B-25's specialty). I think I have some pictures of a B-24 somewhere. They might be prints, so I'd have to scan them.

Mike knows his planes. I just use him as a walking, talking reference. He went up in a dual control Pitts Special on Sunday. I'm in the process of putting together a thread for that.

    Nice!
i just got word today, I used to work at a little airport, that a dear water bomber pilot crashed doing circuits. Sad to hear. But we all agreed..he was the one who if he was to pass away...that was the way.

Look forward to seeing more! I love planes
