    Default Bridges of Middletown

Michaelaw's post of the Pattullo Bridge inspired me to post this one.

There have been three bridges that cross the Connecticut River in Middletown, CT. The oldest one was torn down, that is the brownstone that you see in the foreground. The next oldest is the Providence and Worchester Railroad Bridge, it is the swing trust bridge in the middle. I don't think it still functions, at least I've never seen a train go over it. In the background, is the Arrigoni Bridge, which like Michaelaw's bridge was built in the 1930's.

Yeah, when it was still used, it would apparently just sort of swing to let ships go by. I've seen bridges like these in Tonawanda, a town just north of Buffalo.

That last one is cool. I think if the ice were lightened just a tad, it would be a keeper. Excellent composition and managment of the major elements.
