This I shot on my walk home last saturday - because we have so much snow, that I would have to wait too long for the bus.

Wow what a cool building! I can see lots of cool shots hiding in this scene!
Strange distortion you got there though ... and at 20mm focal length.
Is that Latin written on the front of the building?
I found a wiki page on this ... Holstentor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's an old Gate to the City of Holstentor. The inscription means something like 'Harmony Within, Peace Without' or 'Unity at home, Peace abroad' or something along those lines.
I found some other beautiful shots of this you've taken in your album Kerstin
Not too mention some other very cool shots too! Love that purple coloured one of the decoration 'bild 29' - Lichtbogen ... very cool!
MM this looks like a fairy tale castle!
Feel free to make comments on any of my shots

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
MA you are a well educated and busy man . Your translation of the inscription is right. This is the first sentence every pupil with Latin class here will learn (as I can say). Once, when we've had our D-Mark currency, this landmark decorated the 50-D-Mark banknote.
This shot I took with my 17-85 from Canon - therefor is a little contortion, but I like it this way.
Thanks Bambi - I think too, the gate looks like powdered with icing sugar.
Pssst, Steve - what album are you speaking about? Öhhh - I didn't know I have here one?
It looks like a fairytale for sure, Moin Moin. But woah, what a fortress it must have been in it's day!
Very pretty MM!
