Love the tones of the B&W and the perspective here Barefoot!
Thanks, guys. My best friend was at my feet with his leash in his mouth waiting to go to the dog park while I was working on the one that used to be posted. I swapped that one for the one that’s there now. The other was done with a little to much haste and I think I like this one better. It’s cleaner looking without the structure that made it appear as if shot with a grainy (800-1600 iso) b&w film.
Anyway, there is a story behind the image. I shot this windmill a year or so back while visiting the remains of one of the more infamous haunted houses in Aiken County, but only to record the manufacture so I could do a little research on it.
The story goes that the Spirits that dwelled there were so obnoxious that the two sisters living in the house finally resorted to nailing the door closed to the upstairs portion of the home where most of the “hauntings” took place. When that failed to quite the goings on the sisters decided to burn the house down.
What remains of the old house is interesting enough and I didn’t really pay much attention to the old windmill until the other day when I was looking through some stuff and wondered to myself what I might be able to do with it on a return trip. So, today I stopped by for a moment or two and tried a few different angles. I left before anyone or anything had the time to realize I was there.
wondeful perspective and treatment here Barefoot. It's quite striking. I hope that you didn't bring any ghosts home in your camera bag!
