I found this very frustrating to do. I think the heat distortion of the light causes lots of problems when trying to merge images of fire so I tried an exposure fusion and got a little better result. This is an image I'm going to have to try again.

Nice one Greg. Coincidently enough I drove past the remains on a bush-fire early this evening. It would have made an awesome shot with patches of bright orange flames and red embers glowing, but there was no safe place to stop:(
