    Default L.A. Valley College

Starting a new project based on the grounds of L.A. Valley College. Thought I'd share.

"In 2001, the voters of Los Angeles approved Proposition A and in 2003 Proposition AA to help improve college facilities at Los Angeles Valley College. Los Angeles voters recently approved Measure J in 2008 to further improve college facilities and expand educational programs to meet the needs of the community."

I like the composition. Along with the tones is seems to emphasise where it sounds like you are heading with this project.

I like color, tone and texture, but I'd like to see the row of chairs on a third.

Hey, jseltzer, please forgive the manhandling but I agree with jabber and thought I'd just give it a little try as a sample:

    Default Thanks...

I like what you've done, but ultimately I think I prefer my original crop. I like the band of color on the top, and the row actually does sit on a third, and the yellow chair is right near an intersection (is that what you call it?). Anyway, really appreciate the different versions.

Everyone's art is their own. Don't get me wrong, I think you've got a wonderful photograph there. I really like it. I just see it a little differently.

No problem at all! I like your version, too!

Moving this to the proper forum...this (Photo essays/classsic photography) forum is for finished work and should not be used to show your own work, it should be used to show essays and classic photography of other photographers. No problem at all though.

Given the environment and purpose of your essay - I think your crop works better. I do like iggy's crop on its own, but it cuts out the environment that you are after.

Thanks! Sorry, I guess I didn't read the forum description close enough.

I too like the original crop on this one as the top band and shadow frames it for me. Lot's of interesting thing going on in this one. If you've ever seen that poster with the duck holding a drink and looking over his shoulder at the bullet hole in the wall behind him, this is where it was shot The single yellow chair works for me also. Yep...Good work!!
