    Default Calgary Tree

Ok, Calgary has a lot of highrises that line one street in particular, our retail street downtown, Stephen Avenue. Our prevailing winds have a tendency to whip down the corridor viciously. Hence these 'super' trees to slow things down. They have music and light installed and were even intended to be heated for the comfort of pedestrians in winter but the city thought heating would just attract the homeless. :( Anyway, it was the big builders that paid for and installed these trees not the city lest anyone get their pants in a knot over spending. They are either loathed or loved. Personally, I like them. They are like huge abstract sculptures and really are interesting to photograph. (I think) Maybe you will think so as well.

Very interesting. They make wonderful subjects and you did well with this one. I'd like the chance to try my hand at one.

I'm not a big fan of the "trees" myself (I wish they were a different colour other than white) but I really like the angle you took them at Raiven...almost makes me re-think my opinion of them...almost but not quite....

    Very striking image
The sharpness is excellent and the contrast in this shot is excellent.
