    Default Urban Exploration

Ok - so I'm fascinated by abandoned buildings and other such examples of urban decay, and when I found this amazing massive deserted factory warehouse right on my doorstep it was too good an opportunity to miss.

And as I also wanted to try out some HDR, I thought it would be an ideal spot. Good some really nice images I'm quite happy with. Here's just a few...

There something about the textures and details of these spaces that fascinates me...

    Hi Ben,

We all have certain types of photography that we gravitate to and I must admit that normally these types of shots make me go "meh". Normally.

These are quite well done indeed, your eye has noticed and rendered good shapes, good light and you have made this very interesting for me .
The HDR effect here is working for me big time and you have successfully opened up some great shadow detail. Nice work.

Thanks Marko. Yeah, I really don't like overdone HDR's - basically by the time you can obviously go "there's the HDR effect" it's already way too much. I like to just push it a little beyond the flat photo to bring out some detail, without going too far and becoming obviously HDR processed.

Like everything, it's a learning curve, and while I certainly won't be becoming an HDR freak anytime soon, it's a useful technique to understand, have a handle on how to do it and call upon when appropriate...

Your urban exploration pictures are great, love the bird!! For some strange reason pictures of dead things facinate me. I spent a weekend last month just shooting roadkill. Very cool but very yucky!!

I also appreciated the fact that you used HDR to correctly bring out the lost detail and didn't go off the HDR deepend as seems so many do. Great Job!!

Very nicely worked HDR Ben!! Perfect in terms of reproducing a 'real' image of what you saw I think.
