"The worst thing about taking a great image is that your next one has to be better!"
3 days no comments?
It was a fun shoot. It was for a monthly assignment on another forum, "Music".
I like #1 & #3 in posted order above, not photo number(can't decide which is strongest).

Missed this thread. Shot 2 has the best comp for me.
Overall I find the lighting lacking in this set - every image is dark at one side or another. The lighting is not smooth and even.
Personally I associate Vinyl with bright (trippy) colours and I'm only seeing that in the areas of the image that received enough light during the exposure.
Hope that may help.

The vinyl reference has to do with the records, not the 60's trippy colors (but the decor has that trippy feel to it). The lighting was tough, just those small lights you see on the ceiling and two small windows (seen in shot #3). I did try a shot with my speedlite, but it wouldn't work because of the celaphane on the record jackets reflected badly.
I plan to go back and shoot some more because she hosts small local bands at her shop every couple weeks (I have no idea where she puts them, the place is tiny).

I like #3. I think I'd like it more with the darker area on the right cropped out.
Yesterday I visited a local, privately owned 50's American car museum which had several rooms done up as they would have been in the 50's. These, with all that nostalgia, remind me of that.
I should have written colourful not trippy...we're similar aged AT so we both used to collect vinyl
I agree, not easy lighting.
I'd bring some portable flashes (if you have more than 1) and try bounces to brighten up the darker areas. It will be a fabulous learning exercise if access to this place is as easy as it seems.
