Default Elbow River Valley Downtown Calgary

Old Train Station now used by the Alberta Ballet

This is a weird vantage point because of all the skyscrapers in Calgary, it picks up only The Bow with the Calgary Tower snugged in it's curve. The Bow in reality dwarfs the Tower and the city's many other high rises are hidden from view. This by the way is the old CN train station with the old railway bridge (not seen here) now converted to a footbridge with the track embedded.

    Default The Elbow River

The processing is forced but we are looking west almost into the sun as it goes quite low and a slight pinkness at the horizon causes a slight haloing. The bridge you see is the old CN railway bridge now converted to a pedestrian bridge. Since the floods this spring the river is much lower but you can see the wildness still evident in the C shaped current near that little island.

Love those autumnal colours. Nice juxtaposition and composition in the first shot. I like the roof line pointing to the high-rise too

Nice set JAS, but really likin' that 1st one. Nicely composed, and like the lines in the old station.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

I too like the juxtaposition of the new and old.
