Red Door

I caught some flak from some in our camera club for calling this one Red Door. That’s understandable I suppose, but I know the door is red.

I like the dreamy feel to this!

I have to admit that I let out a small laugh when I saw the picture and thought "Of course there wouldn't be a red door." It image looks sort of surreal, which I'm not sure if I like or not. It's a nice shot though! Except, maybe crop out the shadow?

Yeah, but there goes the open window if you crop the shadow. I do have a few shots of it in daylight without it, just never liked them as much.

This is a good shot. Im with Gem, there wasn't quite a laugh, but go figure, no red door. The softness gives it a surreal feeling to it. The shadow is a definite distraction, but it is needed for the window. It would be nice to see the original version of this in B&W, with the contrast boosted for a deeper and darker feeling. Thats just the feeling I get from this image, not so dreamy. Just seems like a dark and eerie building instead of dreamy.

It would probably look a little like this the only difference being the angle and the fact that this one was shot in broad daylight.

Once again, its another image that gets better after you see another version of it. I must admit, the shadow by the window has grown on me. While I originally stated that it was too 'dreamy' the shadow give a real feeling to the time of day the image was taken. Shadows are excellent ways to show that. The other light shadows on the door and its' wall do the same thing. The first image is the winner in hindsight now. Thanks for the comparison. Now Im just waiting for someone to run out of the corner with a knife and some rope. Nice job.
