Mountain Dawn - Abstract

This is a discussion on Mountain Dawn - Abstract within the Architecture & Man Made (cities, buildings, roads, objects & abstracts) forums, part of the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) category; I've revisited a shot that, after cropping, finally works for me. Default Mountain Dawn - Abstract

I've revisited a shot that, after cropping, finally works for me. I know, though, that ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) and abstracts aren't for everyone. On this predawn morning, I was fascinated by a reddish sunward glow emanating from a small slit in some clouds close to the horizon. My original plan was to 'push' the colour up into the image during the exposure, producing flame-like peaks. I was sort of happy with the results, but found the shot too busy. When I came across the image recently, it occured to me that the central peak reminded me of a mountain disappearing into the clouds, and I cropped the image to isolate it.

Really interesting effect Doug. It almost looks like it is on a fabric with a neat 3d effect. Nice colour.

Interesting abstract - Interesting what people 'see' in these abstracts. I see an eye at top left.

Well done abstract. Love the concept and the execution. Not easy to achieve. Very nice.
