I also like wine but don't know too much about it. It looks there is a sieve in the decanter. Is that to collect any sediment?

Yes and yes, Marko. It is called a Decantus but it is actually more of a funnel/aerator type thing that sits in your decanter. Lots of heavy wines and older wines, and especially port have a sediment.
