    Default Martinis

The proper way to make a martini:

Fill your cocktail glass with ice water. Let chill a few minutes.

Have a conversation with your guest.

Fill a glass pitcher with hard ice. Pour gin slowly down the side of the pitcher.

Put a few dashes of Dry French Vermouth (Noilly Pratt) or Martini Rossi White Vermouth over the top. Using a 1 to 36 proportion is good. Stir slowly until very cold.

Dump the ice water out of the cocktail glass and gently pour the martini in.

    Garnish with olives.

Acceptable gins - Beefeater, Tanqueray especially Tanqueray 10 and Gordon's. Unacceptable gins- Bombay gin or any other flavoured gin.

    Twists are for wussies.

    Vodka is for posers.

    Enjoy.

Screw that ... I'll have a beer thanks

First, look around for the wife to ask her to grab you one.

Second, if she's not still on her chain in the kitchen, get up and head for the fridge.

Open door. Reach for a cold one, shut door.

Knock the top off (the Beer, not the missus) and shove open end into mouth. Guzzle.

Get back to couch and tv remote and realise bottle is empty already.

    Look around for wife ...

You have to remember, I'm sitting in 30 + celcius ... not - 30 like you lot

    A vote for number 2.
By the way, the chain should be long enough to allow movement between the sink, the fridge and your recliner.

Interesting shot, JAS. I'm not a martini drinker myself but I always thought the best ones were vodka martinis, shaken, not stirred Sorry, bit of a Bond fan.

Not a martini drinker, but the picture makes it look so good I almost want to try one.

I like the photo just think it would have been more complete without the one glass being cut off, I do like it though. I have a yearly beer so I am indifferent to what people drink, I am more of a, hmmm, lets say a bud man opposed to a Budweiser man .......
