    I have ordered a variable ND filter, can't wait to try it out.
    It's a good filter for movement effects but it will NOT help you here as the whole thing is the same shade across the frame.
    A GRADUATED ND is what u need. darker on top (so it holds back the sky) that fades to clear on the bottom.
