a recent acquisition and another step deeper into learning classic film photography/development.

This is a 30+ year old Mamiya m645 medium format slr (6mm X 4.5mm negative) with metered Pd prism, 80mm f2.8 lens (the equivalent to a nifty fifty in 35mm), an f4 150mm telephoto and deluxe L Grip with shutter release. The body/prism and 80mm lens weigh in at 60 ounces, the 150 is 15.5 ounces on its own

Not shown, is the shopping bag of chemicals, graduated cylinders, tank, changing bag and other assorted paraphenalia that will launch me full blown into the developing of my own 35mm and 120/220 film. Printing and enlarging will be most likely on the horizon, after I have a good handle on the developing.

    Wish me luck!

Thanks Wicked and Marko, although I wanted the grip for handheld shots with it - my intention is to shoot most often from my tripod.

Another beautiful acquisition Ed. I am very jealous. Would love to get back into film, if only the time. Maybe someday. Know you will get lots of use and enjoyment out of this beauty.

(btw, you men really need to eat your wheaties! I am lugging a 77.2 oz. combo all day as one of my lightest, and I am just a girl)

Nice find, gorgeous piece of equipment. Hope you put it to good use.

Cheers MA, HBG, AL and JAS.

MA- sorry Steve, as I get older - I seem to have developed (no pun intended) a fondness for older technologies and techniques with all their idiosyncrasies.

HBG - I guess I will just have to add bigger lens and increase the number of reps and sets I doing with them

AL - will do my best AL to use it often and hopefully well

a local photo buddy of mine always brings a view camera with him. 4x5 mostly although I have seen him lug larger ones. one day he didn't have it as secure on the tripod as he though and off it went onto the dirt road. we all gasped as we heard it hit, but he kind of chuckled and said it would take a lot more than that to hurt it. he gets excellent results, but I don't envy his load at all.
