ROM (Royal Ontario Museum)

Some pictures of the ROM in Toronto. This architecture definitely requires a return visit. This was the best I could get under the conditions.
1. I was out testing the 24-105 L lens. 24mm is simply not wide enough for this (especially on a crop sensor).
2. It was a very sunny day so only a few of the pictures I took were useful. Too much contrast.

Asnow: these seem well exposed and maintain the textures and characteristics of the museum. I like the black and white treatments, although you might find using a little more "black" or shadow might help with the contrast. Thanks for sharing these. Do you have any photos from inside? I have that lens as well, but don't like it as much as my 17-55 E-FS f2.8 lens. Less reach but a much faster and wider lens.

Thanks Mike. I'm renting and trying out different lenses to see what might be the best first quality lens for me to buy. It was between the 24-105 f4 and the 24-70 f2.8 for this weekend. Chose the 24-105 as I thought that it might be a good walking around lens, however I found that the 24 wasn't quite wide enough. On a full frame sensor it would probably be ok. I may try the 16-35 f2.8 or what you have the 17-55 E-FS f2.8 next time.

As for the black treatment, I agree. I was worried about losing too much details in the shadows so didn't add any black. I went back and tried and there is a little bit of leway to add some more black.

Thanks again for your suggestions and no I didn't get inside. That's for another day.

I really like this set - Up the blacks via PP in shots 1, 2 and 4 as per mbrager's suggestion and just that will make all 3 images stronger.

Sho1 is my fave here - really cool lines, shapes, tones and overall composition!

Love this set, but agree totally with Marko and Mbrager here.
As for lenses, have you tried the 17-40 f4L yet. Do you plan on going full frame in future? Also, Canon may be bringing a 16-40 f4L, with IS, to the table soon.
