Thanks, Foots. Well, to be honest: most winged things have a way of fluttering off before you get close enough with a 200mm lens. I was pretty close to the bird on this one, but usually have never managed to "sneak" up on birds close enough to not scare them away. Wait, there is one exception:
This was during an outing with the Foothills Camera Club. Had my 35mm lens on the camera and really wanted to know how close I could get. Everyone was shooting me trying to capture the raven. Needless to say, most of them had their big guns on their cameras and were quite a bit further away.
