I was so sure that you used a flash to get him so clean and bright ( I usually do if I can) but your exif data shows no flash. Fooled me. Beautiful shot, great light!

Thanks a lot everyone. This has to be my best of a GBH yet, as usually, they take off right away.
This is the first time seeing it in the creek. Must have been quite hungry as he hardly even paid any attention to me. I just pulled up in car and shot out the window.
No flash needed as sun was coming over horizon behind me, and he looked perfect with the natural light, I thought.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

I often find birds will tolerate me better while I stay in the car. But the moment I open the door ... "Ahh .. Feathered 1 ... Cleared for take off!"

You got that right MA! Seems they really do know our shape and form, and beat a hasty retreat. We actually have full camo, head to toe, plus pop-up blinds when out and about.
    Thanks EdG.
Actually had to bump ISO up to 2000 to get this pic, as I really liked the natural lighting, so it actually came out better than even I expected.

That must be a lot of gear to lug around.
