    Default Safe Haven

Caught this little guy while hiking round a local swamp. Not the greatest shot, but did not want to get close, so shot with 500mm, through bushes, from a distance.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Looks very newly hatched, and looks just fine.

Have you got many broods yet? My earliest brood is reaching that tweenager stage, and there are 2 that are less than a week old.

I like this very much. The 500mm really gives the sense we are spying Love the bright, iridescent colour of the chick.

    Thanks everyone.
As for the broods, have not seen many this year.Looks like something got the ones across road, and most others are only couple weeks old now. Have not checked the back pond yet though, will have to do that. (Have to check our game-cams anyways)
Just waiting on the wood duck in the nesting box out our bedroom window. She should be hatching them out any day now.

What a loveley picture. As MA said

Love the bright, iridescent colour of the chick.
Did you ever considered a ColourKey-treatment here? The yellow would show just even more bright!
