All birds have them.
I have seen them on geese, perfect round white patches when their eyes are closed. I always figured it was to fool predators into thinking they're awake but that's just my guess
Don't they have an inner protective eyelid? I gotta go google this.
These are the patches I'm referring to. It kind of makes them look awake when they sleep

QuietOne, birds are cool, huh? The more you photograph them, the more stuff you start to know about them. OK, I live with a couple of birds so I am prejusticed.
