    Default ruby-crowned kinglet

kinglets are among the hardest birds there are to get decent photos of. they bounce around like little pin balls on steroids, and i probably got a hundred great shots of empty branches where they were perched before i got these... in the time it takes to focus and press the shutter, they're gone. finally, after months of fruitless attempts, i found one that was willing to sit still for, oh, maybe 3 seconds? that's "taking a break" for these little guys, but it was just enough for me to get a couple of shots... 40D, 350mm, 1/400 @ f/8...

You can just see the fire in his eyes. Definately not a slow creature that is. Must indeed be hard to capture. But these shots are just spot on! Nice work!
Listen, three eyes, don't you try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.
