Thought I'd re-process an old shot ...

This is a discussion on Stunning in Blue within the Animals (mammals, birds, insects etc.) forums, part of the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) category; Thought I'd re-process an old shot ......
Wow - fantastic colour - it looks very royal!
Funny how old shots you may not have thought about much can pop with a little processing.
Lovely colouring MA...did you saturate it a bit more? And I see some Orton -type pp in the BG.

Thanks all. Yes ... as we learn new ways to process, sometimes old photos can come alive.
No Orton but a process that produces a similar effect without blowing out highlights. No extra saturation ... that's as it was.
is this process explainable? I'd love to know how you did it![]()

I think so. Instead of Orton I've always used a Glamour Blur filter (for use with models skin tones) I found on the net somewhere. Don't even remember where but would be able to track it down I think. After setting all my levels/curves and other basic processing I use the Glam Blur which creates a duplicate layer of the photo and then prompts me to make adjustments etc for the level of glam blur I think will work. Once done I'm left with the new Glam Blur photo layered above my original with a layer mask in place. By carefully painting in the layer mask I can selectively leave the blur I like and bring through the original sharpness of the photo below.
