For such a garbage eater, these two look pretty arrogant. They were hanging around the wharf looking for free meals from the lobster fishermen who toss unused bait overboard.

It isn't a hawk. It's just a variety of common gull found on the east coast.

I think the blue/grey background is a huge part of making this shot interesting. We get those gulls down this way also ... I've seen them in NZ and further south in Australia.
