Yeh it sucks don't it?? I have many shots likie this where I so wanted 'the' shot but so far have to be satisfied with the fact I was quick enough to at least that this much.
Having chased Kingfishers myself I can appreciate this shot for what it is.
This would be an incredible shot if you had nailed it!
I too know how hard these guys are to shoot....they are certainly shy and I spent many evenings this past summer stalking them with my camera only to have them chatter away and fly to another branch at the opposite side of the pond with me following...rinse repeat!

I have yet to shoot a bird..I don't expect it to be easy when I do! Very cool with the fishy in the mouth!
