Default Guess who's coming to dinner

I was going through my equipment and supplies for our next hike when I heard a thump on the window. In the backyard I find a visitor, I think she's a Merlin. Once she recovered from the impact she retrieved he dropped prize and proceeded to eat it on the fence. I was able to get a few shots before she took off.

It was unfortunate I was in a hurry and shot handheld. At 2.8 my depth of field stinks and at 200mm my hands aren't as steady as I would like. I should have bought the 70-200 with the VR feature. I was too worried about the slight weight difference. Live and learn.

BTW I can hear her out hunting again this morning

Man - you are such a lucky guy to get so near to a Merlin! The second shot is the best in my opinion.

How neat is that! I wonder what kind of baby bird she was eating?
