When I was young we had Al Oeming visit us as he was touring Alberta. He would bring with him his tame cheetahs. So I actually was able to pet one and you have never experience a purr until you stroke a cat this size. I have to relate a story he told us:

On the game farm they would exercise the cheetahs but having them chase a motorcycle. One day while on the road he was walking the cats along a road when a motorcycle came by. Well the cats took chase as the game was on. Now cheetahs are fast but have low endurance so Al drove up the road and sure enough there they we resting in the ditch. So he loads them back into the station wagon, which has curtains all round. Up the road he pulls in for gas, the owners at the gas station were have a great chuckle and shared the story of the crazy motorcyclist that figured he was being chased by huge cats. Al just smiled and laughed along.
