It was cold, it was blustery. Getting tossed about on the slippery deck, getting covered in salt spray. Shaking from the cold and fingers that aren't really working from being numb. Trying to look through the view finder but the wind keeps blowing your bangs in the way. You know there is a few days old whale in the group somewhere, then up they pop right in your viewfinder. That split second when your hand, eye, brain, camera, whale connection all comes together. That little jolt through your heart cause you know you got the shot.
