for the last two weeks we have been woken up by a noise reverberating through our heating ducts. At first I thought it was a furnace relay failing and would need to call a repairman.
Well yesterday morning I ran outside to find the culprit - a woodpecker lands on top of the chimney cap (which is aluminium) and begins his "drilling" which rattles through the whole house.
Ran back in for the camera and captured this at iso 2000 ( no that' not a typo) at 300mm.
As soon as the furnace kicks on, the chimney cap heats up and he departs. Current thinking is that he is trying to attract a mate by making such a loud pecking noise - we hope he finds one soon.
