These are a very nervous bird that I have been trying to get for a while. Did not have blind set up, as it was more of reflex shots. They were a long ways out and flew off surface just seconds after seeing them.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
Nice ones again Hbg! I like the crop on the first one showing the splash from the one being chased. Reflections in the second one cool!
These are lovely. I understand Hooded Mergansers are quite rare (There's an excellent restaurant in Penticton called The Hooded Merganser) so kudos for getting these shots. Is the lead bird in the second picture a hoodie female? Doesn't look the same but I'm sure you can identify it.
