Surf Scoter's

So Surf Scoters are a bird that over winters here. I have been trying to get close to them for 2 seasons now. Every time I walk down the pier they see me coming and swim way off in the far distance. I lucked out today though..

The reason they stuck around was it was evening and they were looking for dinner. As the male swam under the pier, I went to the other side and saw the hen












It looked like they where after mussels on the piling.
