    Default Black Fox

I always enjoy the drive up the Alaska Highway to Whitehorse. It goes through some great wildlife areas. This latest trip was no exception. I came across a beautiful black fox running along the ditch. I pulled ahead of it and got out to get some pictures. It didn't seem to mind as it kept running and came within 30 feet of me.

Over the next 30 minutes I leapfrogged in front of it countless time and let the fox run past me. It would stop once in a while to hunt for mice or something. It eventually decided to head deeper into the woods. What a cool creature!

After a while I decided to try some panning shots using slow shutter speeds.

Thanks! The wing was already on the ground and the fox just picked it up. To be honest I didn't even know it was a wing until I looked at the picture later.

On another note, I took these pictures the other day just north of 60 near Watson Lake, Yukon. It was only the second black fox I had seen. Today I'm in Inuvik, NWT (inside the arctic circle) and just ran across another black fox. I only managed to get a crappy far away snapshot. I thought black foxes were rare, 2 in like 3 days. Cool!

Oh, that is cool! To be honest I have never even heard of a black fox before seeing it here.

Awesome captures of a beautiful creature Dan. Love those first three especially.
