Amazing red foxes

I posted my first shot earlier today and was welcomed and patronized very nicely. I mean that honestly. I very much appreciated how I was accepted. Perhaps I should not have gone with a cute shot. Here are a few I snapped this summer.
I asked that you be generous last time. Perhaps this time you could be more honest. I am looking to learn. I have never shared these pictures before.
This is just a few shots of a beautiful red fox I came upon. I have hundreds more shots of other red foxes perhaps I will post later on.

Most of us are Canadian and it's our nature to be nice (That's not to say our other members aren't!!!) We weren't being overly generous on your first post, just our normal selves. I think you'll enjoy it here and I guarantee that some of the better photographers will help you get better at what you do with their wonderful advice.

That little red fox was certainly interested in what you were doing. Are these original images or have then be processed by some sort of software already? It might help, as well, if we knew what kind of camera you were using. It's not about what's good or bad about a particular camera but I have different advice depending on whether you are using a DSLR or a point and shoot.

These three shots are nice and have great potential. I think they would benefit from a little contrast adjustment and probably a bit of cropping to help re-frame them as the composition could use a little work.

I am using a canon rebel eos. Not sure if that tells you enough though. Please let me know if you want more information. They have never been touched. These are the only three pictures I got of this little guy. I would love to see what they might look like with some editing. Please let me know what I can do. These (and all of my pictures) are raw. I have yet to get into editing. I am as amateur as amateur gets I would think.
I have never edited a photo of mine. Perhaps that is embarrassing to admit. But atleast it's honest! Haha I have hundreds upon hundreds of photos at par with this and far better.

There is no better time than now to learn some photo editing. You could maybe start with the photo software that came with camera. That should at least allow you to do the basics. i.e. crop, adjust exposure, contrast. Do you use a PC or MAC. If you use have a PC there is a good free program called GIMP or you could also buy Photoshop Elements for around $100 or so. If you have a MAC you can use iPHOTO or purchase Aperture (which is very good) for around $90 I believe in the App Store. I'm sure others can have give some additional suggestions.

I use the Canon EOS Rebel XSi so I have a good idea what the camera is capable of producing and I can give you pointers now that I know what you are using.

I wrote a blog post for Marko a couple of months back on photo editing software which you may find an interesting read. The software can be complex but you don't have to learn how to use everything at once. I think if you could learn a few basics with photo editing and composition you may find you have some amazing results.

The best way I think to do this is to pick one photo and then we can discuss it in detail with suggestions. And if you are up for it, possibly others could take a crack at doing a little editing to show you what's possible from the raw image.

And definitely don't feel bad that you've never done any editing. Everyone has to start somewhere.
