This is a discussion on Sandhill Crane within the Animals (mammals, birds, insects etc.) forums, part of the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) category; ...
Awesome detail on this image, Michael. Nicely captured. I just love the splash of colour on his/her forehead.
Wow! Beautiful close-up Michael. (in the wild?)
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
Thanks Iggy and HBG
It was shot at the Riefel Migratory bird sanctuary so yes it was wild. The birds are free to come and go as they please. This Crane and its mate were raising a chick but I couldn't get any full shots because of the weeds. Mom here finally ended up in a spot and the wind parted the weeds and there you have it
Lovely portrait of Mrs. Crane!
dig the sharpness and close-upness here.
