I found this pair of ducks at the waterfront not far from the family of geese in the other post. Quite a difference in the male/female colouring.

cool. Actually they're mergansers, not ducks. I forget which kind though. I've never been able to get so close.
These are cute mergansers! (New word for Marko )

They are Hooded mergansers second smallest of the duck family. Its great you got so close they usually take off before a click of the shutter.

Very nice pics of the "Red-breasted Mergansers" Aub.
Hoodies have similar colouring, but also very distinct differences. Most striking is black bill on Hoodie, vs orange on Red-breasted.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
Nice Shots Aub!
And kudos to HBG.

nice shot but I am confused- a merganser is not a duck?

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
Very cool! I'm jealous as all I ever seem to find are mallards. They're cute but I'd like to see something new... maybe I need to get out more
Thanks everyone!!
This pair was sitting in a sheltered corner of the waterfront enjoying the calmer water when I came along. The sun was at the right angle and they were'nt shy. They just sat there and let me fire away which sounds to be pretty unusual.
