    Default Turtle

Sunning on the pond for a couple of days. Didn't see it Friday, but the water has gotten even higher (that rock isn't usually so far underwater).

Cool turtles these. Love the yellow strikes across the face/neck.

Someone asked me if it was a native or an escapee. I didn't have any idea. I haven't seen turtles in that pond before, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.

I did a little digging, and I think it's a painted turtle. There are several variations, and one of them is native to Idaho. I get the impression they aren't that common.

Liking #1 of the, " Painted Turtle". You nailed it for sure. They are lousy around here with all the ponds around us. Literally hundreds.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Nice turtle! I hope you don't mind me saying so but I kinda wish there was more space in front of the turtle than behind him in number 1 which is my favourite as well! Nicely captured.

Thanks, HGB and Iggy. Iggy, this was my initial crop (I wasn't that close). When I cropped a bit tighter I went for the rock showing under the water in back. But maybe some folks would like this one better.
