Cyanotypes

” I choose to use the cyanotype, a 19th century process to obtain the sumptuous and varied blues found in these images. Emulsions are carefully applied by hand, the negatives are then exposed by sunlight onto hand crafted watercolor paper. In these images I hope to convey subtle tones that go beyond the original blues of the cyanotype process. Traces of earlier photographic methods can be seen underneath the surface image, reflecting the passage of time and creating textures that look simultaneously pictorial and photographic. “
