Mt Tibrogargan

Got up this morning with some motivation to climb. A few minutes drive away is Mt Tibrogargan.
Mount Tibrogargan is one of the many mountains in the Glass House Mountains National Park, north-northwest of Brisbane, Australia. It is a volcanic plug of hard alkali rhyolite that squeezed up into the vents of an ancient volcano 27 million years ago.

Tibrogargan is the second steepest of the Glass House Mountains after Mount Coonowrin, and is also quite high for the region at 364 metres (although still almost 200 m shorter than Beerwah, the tallest of the group), so it is a popular target for Bushwalkers, Rockclimbers and Tourists. The latter group are regularly victims of their own inexperience and poor planning and are the subject of rescues by the State Emergency Service and rescue helicopters.

This the summit of the mountain ... those whitish tracks up there is rock where I climbed. Steep.

This part is near the bottom and called 'Chicken Rock' by the locals. Many people climb this steep bit, and then see what's above it and go no further ... like my wife (pictured) did. However, considering the bursitis in her hips right now, she did well to get this far.

On the summit ... the girl in white is a Canadian ... the two guys in the next photo were her climbing buddies and also from Canada. I learnt how to say 'Banff'

No apologies needed for the quality of pics MA. All very nice. Another awesome journey you have taken us on, and shared these wonderful views of said adventure. i also commend your wife for doing so well. Many younger would not even attempt this. Love the summit pics with the people in the foreground really giving these the sense of height.

Wow...some scrambling to be had for sure but well worth it for the view at the top!

cool series, MA; I could not help but notice you took several of the images looking down. I also noticed that several of the female folk climbing after you were wearing rather lose fitting clothing .... yet you did not manage to get other elevations captured. No need for that, since the ones you show are excellent. Must have been a rewarding climb.
