Trees in the mist

Actually, reflections of trees in a frozen stream. But rotated 180° to give the illusion of trees in mist.

Offered in the spirit of the theme. I knew I wasn't going to get clean shots with this, because I don't have a polarizing filter. I just decided to see how the reflections played with the display. Brought out the differences as best I could. So are you looking at the reflection, or the display behind it? (It's MK Nature Center's main class area. They have a series of stations where you can view the habitat for the fish. It actually feeds off the river nearby, so you get both wild and what Fish and Game stocks)

Gotta go back to Marko's image. Very powerful stuff. I remember my mom having photos like that. They came back from the drugstore or wherever(?) in little booklets like that with the scalloped edges. Square pictures. My mom had an old Kodak that took 127 rolls of film (I think that is right). It had a built in flash that you screwed individual bulbs into. Needless to say flash photos were taken sparingly. Recently my sister has been scanning those old photos and posting them on flickr. Some are of my dad who is now 88 and frail, and sometimes not totally in the "now" time frame, and has just recently moved into a seniors home. So I totally relate to that photo. Nice work and sorry for the little off topic side trip.

I've been struggling to post much lately(although I have been lurking at time trying to keep up :) )
Thought I'd have a crack at a shot for the assignment. This was inspired by one of the shots earlier in the thread and similar I have seen on flickr.
I kind of like how this turned out...a wider lens and better lighting would have got the exact result I was after.

cool! Here's a different type of horse power. My friends were getting some logs harvested on their property. There will be a whole thread on this in the 'show your photo' but I wanted to show the communication between the man and his horse through two narrow strips of leather as well as capture the history of this type of logging.
