Wow scorp...love your take on this assignment! :highfive:
"Found" this fellow on my stroll back to work after a short visit with Bambi! Great meeting you "IRL" today, Bambi.

Hey nice capture Marko. I hope you removed the battery from your smoke alarm before the shoot ! :laughing: .. :) - jimmy
Hey I like your style Scorpio. Even though I'm not a fan of "over processed" photos :laughing: - Well done :) jimmy

Nice with the backlighting!:highfive: I prefer the colour version myself as you get a better sense of the sun's position.
First post here...

Welcome to the forum. That's a nice start. I like the composition and the tones ;) I'd be interested to know if you got one with everything in focus or her face in focus?
Well, that is my daughter, she is 12 and was not "in the mood" to be photographed (her face at least). She posed willingly enough and had fun but didn't want her face and hair in the image at that time. So no is the answer to that one. I will catch her in a more face friendly mood and ask her to help me reshoot that one and try it.
Whether you got light or shadow would depend on which one you chose.

Or here's a more usual take on the subject:

Oh, um, hi. I'll get a message into the intro forum next. And please let me know if the pictures didn't get into the message. It's been a looooong time since I participated in any kind of forum.
Nice additions QuietOne...great to see you jump right in! Welcome to the forum!:highfive:
I liked the tiny light and shadow on this blade of grass when I saw it.
Haven't taken many photos lately. In the process of moving and my good computer with all my programs has been sent weeks ago. Didn't have my password for here. I have no furniture but a mattress..lol. Life is rough..;)
Loving this months theme..wonderful photos! Great job!
I took this yesterday..and I fluked out..it fits this theme!

cool self portrait Kat!
Hope the move is going well Kat! Lovely pic :)
Thanks. So far move is going well. My hubby is already out west..we shall be there soon. :)
The double mesh and double shadows caught my eye. A number of trees along the path are wrapped with chicken wire to protect them from the beavers. One of the apartment residents has seen one, and I've seen at least two dens. The protection works - the trees tend to fall down on their own...

And another fallen tree. Pretty much anything that isn't a hazard to walkers or rafters is left to recycle itself. There are a number of logs I take photos of several times a year. On this one, it's hard to tell where the shadow leaves off and the silvered wood starts.
Attachment 6047
I'm not looking for light and shadow subjects at every turn, honest! It's just that all these subjects force me to notice them, and then, well, I just have to take their pictures.

nice lens MA. How on earth do you hold that thing?
this is one of the bunkers from Point Pleasant Park in Halifax. I remember when they were not fenced off and made a great place to play. It made me feel sad to see them fenced off:sad:

Bambi - Nice one - looks infrareddish.
I like your beach find iggy!
Nice city shot Maw!
Hi Kat. Wow that's a very intense portrait. Well done. Cheer up, things will get better :) - jimmy
Super photo reedflutesong. It draws a person right in - jimmy :)
MA, I saw the lights reflected in the lens glass and my first thought was of seed beads. But I imagine those would interfere with getting any kind of photo.
I like your other photo, too, especially the way the light and shadow is off center. The picture on the tin immediately triggered a poem I hadn't thought of in years:
"I never saw a purple cow;
I never hope to see one;
but I can tell you anyhow;
I'd rather see than be one!"
The author eventually hated it, because it got 'overplayed', and a number of people did their own versions of it.
Purple Cow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ain't Google wonderful?
Bambi ... it IS a heavy lens to hold! My hand is always under it while shooting and holding the tripod mount (which I flip to the top side) when walking.
QuietOne ... those 'seed beads' are actually the reflections of the LED light I was using. It has 3x 3watt Cree LEDs in a triangle pattern in the head which is what you are seeing. The different colours come from refraction as it passes through the glass elements inside the lens I guess.
Always nice when an image invokes something from one's memory :)
Hey Mad. Wow that is quite the lens. Super quality. Only wish I had one. In photography size does matter :laughing: - jimmy
Hey Wicked. Sorry I missed your "Devil's in the Details" door handle. I really like this take on a simple subject. Soooo well done - jimmy :)
Hey that could be a real problem Mad ! :laughing: - jimmy
