Default April 2009 Photography Assignment - Portraits (human)

Anyone have any suggestions for April? Everyone did such an awesome job with March and Wind!

To me the obvious might be "Easter/Passover" but "April Showers" was something I was thinking also.... "Spring" is another thought I had in mind.

    Anyone else?

    what about portraits?

I'd love to see how everyone does with this one!

I've never attempted a portrait...hence the reason it might be a good idea!

Just wanted to pop in and say that I love portraits! I might even attempt the assignment this month ....After finals and all :(

Back to studying for me :( (ssaavvee meee!)

I like the portraits idea as it would give me an excuse to practice more in this area.

Trying to get some today of my kids for Easter, not working out too well. Funny how much easier it is to photography children besides your own..grrrr!

Sold - posts will be merged and portraits it is.

Alright..guess I'll get it started. I know this is going to be such a good theme!!!

I will most likely add to this once Easter and a newborn arrive! Going to be a fun month for portrait taking for me..lots of firsts!

I chose this photo because this face is what you get when she gets excited over something, like her Cinderella getting her ballgown or kiss from her Prince. A face I think she will lose with time but loved always.

Very cute photo! Her eyes are gorgeous. The only thing that bothers me is that stray hair in her right eye. I just have this need to move it away.

    Default My Friend Roger

Here is a photo I took of my friend Roger in the fall. I actually want to convince him to come for some available light portraits as I need the practice and he does not run away from the camera. I took this as we were sitting in a window at a restaurant. Not sure the desaturated treatment works but thought I would give it a shot.

Accompanying disclaimers: I know it isn't "tack sharp" and there are "distracting background elements" (the tree that appears to be growing out of the subject's head), but I still kinda like the shot and I could not find any easy way to get rid of the tree in PS. While I was trying to get this shot, my 1 yr old daughter fell in some muck off to the side so I was rushed as usual.
