I like assignments, even though I only get around to a few a year.
"The worst thing about taking a great image is that your next one has to be better!"
I'm like AT in that I enjoy them. Even if I never get off my butt and exacute, at least they give me something to think about.
All I know is that June assignments better be "Ancient Ruins", "Italian Cuisine", "Italian Landscapes", "City Canals", or "Roman Street Photography".

I'm in favor of assignments. I do think about them, as Barefoot points out, even if I don't do them. I think last year I got more of them done than usual. I missed not having one in January.
Existence has no goal. It is pure journey. The journey in life is so beautiful, who bothers for the destination. B. Rajneesh

I have already conceded that I am not going to stick with my proposed 365 project (just too hard after I got back to work)
I had been noting a few ideas I had during last year just for this purpose. These suggestions are:
film noir
bubbles
looking up/looking down
panning
shot from low level
street sellers
legs
